We contiued our financial literacy series with Public Service Community High School, bringing together more than 120 seniors in the school cafeteria for the third workshop of the program. During the workshop, students learned the difference between saving and investing, how compound growth works, and why starting early can make a major impact over time. The discussion also covered different types of investments, risk, and the importance of setting long-term financial goals. Real-life examples helped students connect these concepts to the future decisions they may face after graduation.
Gathering the entire senior class created an energetic and highly engaging environment where students could ask questions, participate in discussions, and begin thinking differently about their financial future. Small Business Workshop: Marketing in a Digital World

We were invited to participate in a small business workshop focused on marketing in today’s digital world, hosted at the JPMorgan Chase branch in El Monte by Zhemyr Diaz from JPMorgan Chase. The event brought together entrepreneurs both in person and virtually, with a combined audience of 27 participants, including 15 attendees in person and 12 joining online.
The workshop featured a strong presentation from Lucee C., Senior Business Consultant for Chase, who shared valuable insight on digital marketing, customer engagement, and strategies small businesses can use to grow in an increasingly online marketplace. The session gave business owners practical tools and real-world guidance they could apply directly to their businesses.
Josh Rincon also contributed to the conversation by sharing his marketing expertise and answering questions from attendees throughout the event. His perspective complemented the presentation and helped create an engaging learning environment where small business owners could gain practical knowledge, ask questions, and strengthen their approach to marketing in a digital landscape.

We continued our financial literacy series with Public Service Community High School, bringing together more than 120 seniors in the school cafeteria for the second workshop of the program. This session focused on Credit 101 and Auto Purchasing, two major financial topics that many students will encounter shortly after graduation.
During the workshop, students learned how credit scores are built, what factors can improve or damage credit, and why strong credit is essential for future financial opportunities. The session also explored the realities of purchasing a vehicle, including auto loans, interest rates, monthly payments, and the long-term costs associated with car ownership. Real-life examples helped students connect these concepts to decisions they may soon face as young adults.
Bringing the entire senior class together created an engaging environment where students could ask questions, reflect on their future responsibilities, and gain practical financial knowledge before entering adulthood. This second workshop continued building the foundation of the series by equipping seniors with the tools and awareness needed to make informed financial decisions with confidence.

Expanding CalKIDS Enrollment Support at Bellflower High School

We continued our partnership with Bellflower High School by delivering nine additional CalKIDS workshops, expanding our efforts to help more students access valuable college savings resources. These sessions allowed us to reach even more classrooms and provide students with direct support as they learned about the benefits available through the program.
Throughout the workshops, students received guidance on how to claim their CalKIDS accounts, access free money for college or career training, and take important first steps toward planning for their educational future. Many students were able to begin or complete the enrollment process during the sessions, creating immediate impact and increasing awareness around available financial support.
We were grateful once again for the support of Hugo from OCPSC and Karol and Antonio from the Institute for Public Strategies, who helped assist students throughout the workshops and ensured the process remained accessible and engaging. Together, these efforts strengthened our commitment to connecting students with opportunities that can help support their long-term academic goals.

We visited Bellflower High School to deliver four workshops for students focused on the CalKIDS program and the opportunity to claim free college savings funds available in their names. The sessions were designed to help students better understand how the program works and guide them through the process of accessing their accounts.
During the workshops, students learned how CalKIDS can support their future education goals by providing free money for college or career training, while also receiving hands-on assistance with checking eligibility and beginning the enrollment process. The sessions created a supportive environment where students could ask questions, receive guidance, and take meaningful steps toward securing educational resources for their future.
We were grateful for the support of Hugo from OCPSC and Karol and Antonio from the Institute for Public Strategies, who joined us to help students navigate the process and provide additional assistance throughout the workshops. Job Tank Event: Connecting Students with Career Opportunities

We partnered with Bellflower High School to organize a large-scale Job Tank event, creating a space where students could connect directly with professionals from various industries. The event brought together over 300 students along with representatives from banks, businesses, and community organizations, offering a unique opportunity for students to engage in real-world career exploration.
Throughout the event, students participated in mock interviews, resume reviews, and one-on-one conversations with professionals, allowing them to practice communication skills, receive feedback, and better understand what employers look for. The experience helped students identify their strengths, explore different career paths, and gain confidence in presenting themselves in professional settings.

We partnered with Lynwood High School to host a workshop for parents focused on the CalKIDS program, helping families understand how to access free money available for their children’s future education. The session was designed to raise awareness and guide parents through a process that many were unfamiliar with but can provide meaningful financial support for college.
During the workshop, parents learned how CalKIDS provides free college savings funds for eligible students and the simple steps required to claim and activate their accounts. Lily and Alexandra from Centro CHA led the session, offering hands-on support by helping families check eligibility, enroll, and navigate the process in real time.

We partnered with UCLA’s Latino Business Student Association to host a career panel and networking eventdesigned to connect students with professionals from a variety of industries. The event created a valuable opportunity for students to learn directly from experienced leaders, gain career insight, and begin building meaningful professional connections.
The panel featured an accomplished group of professionals, including Argeniss Figueroa from Banc of California, Amy Born from First Citizens, David Henriquez from NASA, Sean Veal from City National Bank, and Timothy Chang from Pacific City Bank. Each panelist shared their career journey, lessons learned along the way, and advice on navigating the transition from college into the professional world. We delivered the sixth and seventh workshops of our financial literacy series with two AVID senior classes at Bellflower High School, bringing the program to a strong and meaningful close. In the sixth session, we introduced the Capstone Project, challenging students to design a detailed five-year life plan that applied everything they had learned throughout the series. The project required them to outline their future career path, education plan, projected costs, budget, lifestyle goals, and how they would responsibly use credit.
Students worked through the financial realities behind their goals, connecting career income to expenses, savings, and long-term planning. The exercise encouraged critical thinking and intentional decision-making, pushing seniors to visualize not just what they want their future to look like, but how they will realistically achieve it. The following week, during the seventh workshop, students presented their capstone projects in groups, confidently sharing their plans and financial strategies with their peers.

We hosted our Transforming Our Community Gala 2025, welcoming around 100 guests to an evening that celebrated progress, partnerships, and the shared commitment to strengthening families across Greater Los Angeles. The program opened with a message of appreciation and a reaffirmation of our mission to empower low-to-moderate income communities through financial education, support, and advocacy. Guests had the opportunity to reflect on how this collective work drives meaningful change year after year.
Throughout the evening, we highlighted the year’s most significant achievements with an impact overview. We shared how we delivered 122 workshops across our Wealth Academy, Homeownership, and Small Business programs; reached 3,363 youth and adults with essential financial education; provided direct fire-relief assistance to more than 50 families; strengthened collaborations with 42 schools, banks, and community organizations; mobilized over 100 volunteers; and connected with 4,182 community members through major events such as food drives and school giveaways. Each milestone served as a reminder of the real results created through shared dedication and support.
The event concluded with a special recognition ceremony honoring individuals and partners whose contributions elevated our mission. We celebrated Board Member of the Year – Yves Mombelur, Banking Partner of the Year – Eli from Banc of California, Volunteer of the Year – Zhemyr Diaz from Chase, and Community Partner of the Year – Danielle from Bellflower. Recognizing their leadership and commitment reinforced the purpose of the evening: to honor those who help transform our community and to continue building a stronger, more financially empowered future together.

Connecting UCLA Students with Industry Professionals — A Powerful Night of Networking

We partnered with the UCLA Latino Business Student Association to host an unforgettable event designed to help students connect with real professionals, gain insight into the financial industry, and build meaningful relationships that can shape their future careers. With 40–50 students in attendance, the room was full of energy, curiosity, and ambition.
A major highlight of the evening was our expert panel, moderated by our Director of Operations, Josh Rincon. We were deeply grateful to our partners who joined us and shared their experience and advice: Evelyn from HSBC, Alfred Leal from JPMorgan Chase, Ana H. Robles from City National Bank, Martin Vazquez from JPMorgan Chase, and Thomas from Banc of California. Their guidance gave students a real, honest look at what it takes to succeed in banking, finance, and beyond.

We continued our financial literacy series with Jovenes Inc., teaching the fourth workshop: Investing 101 to a dedicated group of young women ages 18–24. This session focused on breaking down the basics of investing in a simple, approachable way — from understanding risk to learning how money can grow over time.

We returned to Bellflower High School & Middle School to lead two additional Intro to Financial Literacy workshops, continuing our commitment to equip young students with real-world money skills.
This time, we were joined by Evelyn from HSBC Bank, who helped co-teach one of the sessions and brought valuable banking insights directly to the classroom. Students learned key concepts like saving, budgeting, and distinguishing needs vs. wants — all through fun, interactive activities that kept them engaged and thinking about their futures.

Each student also received a Certificate of Completion from us, recognizing their hard work and dedication throughout the program.

6th Workshop at Glen A. Wilson High School - Entrepreneurship & First Part of Shark Tank Project

We hosted our 6th workshop of the series at Glen A. Wilson High School, in partnership with Isaac and Karen from Royal Business Bank. This session introduced students to the world of entrepreneurship, covering the basics of developing business ideas, identifying problems to solve, and understanding what makes a business successful.
Students also began preparing for their Shark Tank project, where they will form teams, create their own business concepts, and present them to a panel of judges during the final session. The energy and creativity in the classroom were incredible, setting the stage for an exciting conclusion to the series.

Bringing Hope to the Streets During Times of Unrest
June 7-14
Our CEO, who also serves as a dedicated pastor, was out in the heart of the community during the LA protests. Amid the tension and uncertainty, he walked the streets offering hope, encouragement, and spiritual support to those hurting and searching for peace. His presence reminded many that even in moments of unrest, compassion and unity can shine through. Through prayer and conversation, he brought a calming voice and a message rooted in faith, reminding our communities that we are not alone and that healing is possible when we come together with purpose and love.

Shark Tank Night Event at Paramount High School

We were honored to be invited to the Shark Tank Night Event at Paramount High School, where our Program Director Josh Rincon served as a judge alongside our valued partners George Sevilla from Citizens Business Bank and Adam Marquez from SMBC MANUBANK.
The event featured around 40 students, who pitched their business ideas with creativity and confidence. As judges, we provided thoughtful feedback and guidance, helping students think more critically about entrepreneurship, presentation, and financial planning.
It was an inspiring evening that showcased the innovative spirit of these young minds and reflected our ongoing commitment to supporting youth as they explore business and career pathways.

Virtual CalKids Workshop for Parents at Waite Middle School

We partnered with Jason Hamilton from Keep It Simple Financial to host an online workshop for parents from Waite Middle School in the Norwalk-La Mirada School District, focused on the CalKIDS program—California’s free money initiative to help families start saving for college.
During the session, we walked parents through how the program works, who qualifies, how to access their child’s account, and why it’s so important to start planning early for higher education.
Jason provided practical insights on building a strong financial foundation for their children’s future, and parents left feeling informed and empowered to take action.

In partnership with Evelyn Z. and Rosie from HSBC Bank, we hosted a Spanish-language workshop for parents at Lynwood High School focused on Budgeting and Saving.
The session offered practical tools and strategies to help families take control of their finances, from setting a household budget to building healthy saving habits. Parents were highly engaged, asking questions and sharing personal experiences, which created a supportive and collaborative environment.

6 Impactful Workshops at Bellflower High School
April 29-30
Over the course of two days, we led six dynamic workshops at Bellflower High School, connecting with over 150 students to explore the essential truths about managing money as a young adult.
The session, “The Five Things Every Young Person Needs to Know About Money,” was more than just an introduction to personal finance—it was an invitation to think differently about their future. Students learned how to make smart money decisions, the importance of budgeting and saving, how credit cards really work, and how to avoid common financial traps. We emphasized how time is their greatest ally when it comes to investing, and how starting early—even with small amounts—can lead to long-term financial freedom.
Through real-life examples and interactive discussions, we empowered students with the mindset and tools to take control of their finances and build a brighter future.
